Sports broadcasting or sports analysis service is a job that is generally offered by the many major professional sports league teams, as well as by individual sports bettors. Sports analysts or sports reporting are often sportscasters that have broadcast coverage of a variety of different sporting events, such as football, basketball, baseball and even tennis. However, the term can apply to any individual who works in the broadcast industry. Many sports analysts work for teams or sports publications and are employed by a single network or a handful of stations. There are also sports handicappers that are freelance and offer their services to sports organizations or individual sports fans.

So what is involved in a sports broadcasting service? Well, first and foremost you must find out whether the team or publication you are joining has any sports broadcasting strategy in place. Every sports organization has its own way of working, even if they are not a large multinational company. For instance, if you were a basketball fan who wanted to get his/her foot in the door with a major sports network, your first step would be to sign up for a job with a sports broadcasting service. Once you are on the air, your job is to provide reports and analysis about the games that have been played. This can be broadcasted over the airwaves or be published as articles, blogs posts, and even on websites, which will generally be owned by the broadcast company or a company that you are going to join.

Once you are hired by a sports organization or a sports broadcasting service, you are not just on the air, but you are also on call. You will have to be available to provide live reports and commentaries on any sporting event that may transpire between the time you arrive on the set and when the game is actually over. For instance, if there was a tennis final, you would have to be present in the studio or another area of the broadcast center when the final play is being covered. As well, if there was a football match on Sunday, you would have to be available in the sports broadcasting center when the team gave the news about the winning player. The amount of time that you have to devote to your job, and the amount of skills and talents that you need to possess, are the biggest determining factors as to which sports broadcasting service or network you should choose to work for.
